[bionet.software] MacPattern

Rainer.Fuchs%EMBL@PUCC.PRINCETON.EDU ("Rainer Fuchs ", EMBL Data Library) (07/20/90)

( Apologies for my previous blank message :-( )

A new program for the Macintosh is now available which utilises Amos Bairoch's
Prosite pattern database for pattern searching in protein sequences.

MacPattern is a genuine Mac application, not HyperCard. It offers features like
a pattern list for pattern selection, direct access to documentation in
Prosite, pattern sets, pattern entering by keyboard, etc. It can read
SwissProt, PIR, DNA Strider, DNAid, Pearson and plain ASCII sequences.
MacPattern can also use any other pattern database adhering to the Prosite
syntax, even DNA patterns. No special hard- or software is required.

The program can be obtained in a package containing an on-line help file, a
manual and a database indexing program from the EMBL file server
(MAC_SOFTWARE:MACPATTERN.HQX)

To use MacPattern you need the Prosite database which is also available from
the EMBL server in the directory PROSITE.
