[bionet.software] Databases

deboer@balaena.bio.vu.nl (Thon de Boer) (07/27/90)

Is there a program (MAC or UNIX) which can read the databases in the format
as it is used in the journal contents newsgroup (or the EMBL sequence database)
and do searches and produce reports etc ?
The format in which a field of a record is preceeded by a two letter name.
I would especially like a program for the Mac.

Thanks in advance

The format in the BIO-JOURNALS/bionet.journals.contents newsgroup is
patterned after BRS Medline (except for the ASM Journals
unfortunately). Although I do not use such software myself and thus
have no recommendations, this was chosen due to the fact that many
reference database packages supported it.
