I was reading my BMW 2002 work shop manual yesterday, while replacing the drive coupling, and found a strange but useful idea on overheating engines. Check for brake drag. You might also want to burp the cooling system. My family, owning many Mini's, BMW's, and other beasties, have noticed that once in a while trapped air seems to impede cooling. Next, on the subject of putting a strange engine/transgression/diff in your classic car to fix symptoms. BLEGH (general sound of disgust). The best thing to do with a spriget (AH sprite/ MG midget) is to take to heart the teachings of the Guru David Vizard in his good, not best, seller *How to Modify Your Mini*. This book is directly applicable to the Austin/Morris Mini/1100/America range, but is also useful to any autos using the BL *A* series engine. It goes into most popular working modifications (carb swaps, porting, head swaps) in great detail. The charts on valves, cams, and carb needles are very useful. It is published by the Peterson Corporation and sells for about $10.CDN. I bought mine at the local Firestone store. They would probably also be available at your local foreign car part stockest, mini club, or through Mini City (NY). more later, no flames please, Andrei Chichak auvax!chichak
