I recently got the CGR stack from EMBL and put it on the UH server, and now have a use for it; but when I run it, with any GenBank file it gives an error message (sorry, I'm not near a Mac so I can't give the exact wording): "found Count when expecting Integer" and it pops into the code. Since I can barely stand Macs, I haven't ever looked into hypercard programming. So, my question is simple: has CGR worked for anyone after downloading from the UH or EMBL servers? If I get one or more "yes" replies I will assume I'm doing something wrong and keep trying; otherwise I'll drop it and use something else for my course. Thanks very much in advance, dan davison@uh.edu DAVISON@UHOU (BITNET/EARN)

I got the package from the Indiana server and it seemed to work. With my setup though, (IIci - ethernet) the package lost connection with the vax after one or two minutes. Since my other macTCP software works okay, I put this aside untill I have time (Ha!) to find out whats going on. Doug

Yes, the CGR stack does work. I think I know the solution to your problem. What you need to do is to specify the sequence filename by its full pathname in this format: VOLUME:[FOLDER]:[SUB-FOLDER]...]:FILE . For example, a file called "SEQ" on a harddisk called "VERY HARD", in the folder "CGR" should be entered in the filename field as "VERY HARD:CGR:SEQ". This sort of path naming convention is very unMac-like so you might not find it too offensive. Hope this helps.
