Having been observing the heated debate concerning the meaning of the word "hacker" (i.e. is it interpreted as derogatory or is it a neutral label?), I think that this would make for an interesting poll. I'd like to know what the general computing population thinks of the term "hacker". Is there anyone out there who would be willing to run such a poll? I would, but I'm going to be leaving for the holidays, and I'd hate to come back here in January and have my mailbox flooded with unprocessed votes. Besides, that means everyone wuld have to wait that much longer for the results. If no one volunteers to run this poll, AND if other people think that they would still be interested in seeing the results of one, I'll be willing to do it sometime next month.
