Joe Felsenstein asks:
> What features are needed in future programs for inferring phylogenies?
The most useful thing I can think of is the ability to read and write
different sequence file formats. Incorporation of Don Gilbert's
readseq (I think there's a pascal version) would be good, but there
are up-and-coming formats, like Vax PAUP and Mac PAUP (3.0) that would
be very useful too.
BTW, is anyone know if PAUP 3.0 officially released yet? I've written
(snail and e-mail) and called once but haven't gotten any reply (yet).
Thanks, Joe, for all the work on Phylip!
