Is it true that new cars won't have seatbelts once air bags are manditory? I hope not, since I don't really trust things I can't test. Would you trust an auto company to pack your parachute?

One interesting problem with airbags is that, for proper effect, they \require/ the use of a lap belt to keep the luser from submarining. Thus, they really replace only the shoulder belt. Cheers, John ("Always Wear My Seat Belts, Really") DeTreville Bell Labs, Murray Hill
