[net.auto] No seatbelts?

rascal@ogcvax.UUCP (06/30/83)

Is it true that new cars won't have seatbelts once air bags are manditory?
I hope not, since I don't really trust things I can't test. Would you trust
an auto company to pack your parachute?

One interesting problem with airbags is that, for proper effect, they
\require/ the use of a lap belt to keep the luser from submarining. Thus,
they really replace only the shoulder belt.
