[bionet.software] seqaidfd

WEH@fdacfsan.bitnet (01/29/91)

I've tried to decode seqaidfd.uaa from EMBL DOS_SOFTWARE several times
but there always seems to be a CRC error in the seqaid.ovr file that
pkzipfix can't correct. Has anyone else had this problem and where can
I find an unbroken version?? Thanks in advance.

(Hi Walt!)

Seqaidfd is fine; the EMBL version is most likely fine too, but I
tested the one I sent to EMBL. If you use the UUEMBL.UUE provided
uudecoders, it will read the seqaidfd.uaa seqaidfd.uab seqaidfd.uac
consecutively and build SEQAIDFD.EXE, which will then self-extract
fine. To get things that work (I just tested them) try the following
lines to the UH Gene-Server:

        Subject: send uuembl.uue
        Subject: send seqaidfd.uaa
        Subject: send seqaidfd.uab
        Subject: send seqaidfd.uac

put them all in the same directory, and run *any* uudecoder on
UUEMBL.UUE, which will produce UUDECODE.EXE (oops, maybe that's .COM)
and UUENCODE.EXE[.COM]. Then use *that* uudecoder to decode the
seqaidfd encoded files:
        c:\ > uudecode seqaidfd.uaa

which will produce SEQAIDFD.EXE then type
        c:\ > seqaidfd

and it will extract a lot files into the current directory. (Best to
make a subdirectory first!)

If you have problems of any kind, contact me by e-mail and I'll help.

ps If Keith L. is still there, please tell him hi for me
pps I will resend the files to Rainer at EMBL just in case they'be
been munged by Behind Its Time NET.
