Today I received two excellent reviews by Peter Markiewicz, Stanford, on molecular biology software for the Macintosh computer. They cover both commercial and public domain software. I put them on the EMBL File Server where thet are available as MAC_SOFTWARE:MACREVIEW.1 and MAC_SOFTWARE:MACREVIEW.2 Dr. Rainer Fuchs EMBL Data Library fuchs@embl-heidelberg.de fuchs@embl.bitnet

Peter Markiewicz has again produced a very valuable, comprehensive review of molecular biology software for Macintosh computers. These documents include detailed descriptions of commercial, shareware and freely available software, comparisons of features, instructions on obtaining them. I strongly recommend these to every molecular biologist who uses Macintosh for data analysis. You can obtain these two text files by anonymous ftp to iubio.bio.indiana.edu, cd [archive.molbio.mac], get 0programs.txt (a summary of programs and where to obtain them) and get 0reviews.txt (a review of the programs).
