[net.auto] Better Than Most...qualifications

rwhw@hound.UUCP (06/07/83)

Yes, I am better than most. Here are some of my qualifications.

1. I have been operating motor vehicles for over 32 years.
2. I have received 1 ticket. (STOP sign violation, did not stop completely)
3. I have won many awards for driving in competition and for safe driving.
4. I have driven commercial vehicles for a living.
5. I have never been in an accident that was the result of my driving
      habits.
6. I estimate that over the years I averaged over 30,000 miles per year.
7. I am a retired First Aid Member here in New Jersey. I have been
called upon all hours of a day to help extract many people that were
trapped in a vehicle involved in a high-speed accident. The length of
      my service was 16 years.
8. I have been a traffic enforcement officer for 5 years. Due to the use of
radar and other means to measure the speed of vehicles, I
helped reduce the accident rate in my town by over 30%.
9. To round out my driving abilities, I tour all over the country on a
motorcycle with my wife as a passenger. The average is more than
8,000 miles per year. Yes, I have encountered many close calls
involving speeding vehicles, but my driving experience helped to
      avoid them.
10. I do not, and will not, ever depend on anything but my brains to control
my speed and driving habits on the roadways that are full of people
that will not obey the traffic rules and regulations.

There is a lot more I can say but I believe you get my point!

I knew it, you had to be a cop. That excuses all your excesses.
No ...It EXPLAINS all your excesses!!

Why do you suppose the "oddballs" in California ruled Radar unconstitutional?

Now wait a moment. Traffic radar has NOT been ruled unconstitutional
in California. It is very legal, and is used here.
Until recently, the legislature committee budgeting the California
Highway Patrol has refused to budget any money to the CHP to buy radar
equipment. Some local areas have, however, given their local CHP radar
equipment, and I hear that some money may have come from Sacramento in
the last couple of years for it.
