I am an Italian student of Padova university . I am 24 years old , I am studing Electronic Engineering at Padova University, but I would like to do this on an English or American college. ( A good English is wery important for an engineer !!! ) I need some information about universities where you can take a degree on Electronic Engineering. I would like to have informations on the following topics : Is an English or USA degree valid here on the European community ? ( I mean if it is AUTOMATICALLY valid ) Especially , is such degree valid here in Italy ? What is going to change after 1992 ? , are we going to become like the USA where a degre taken on an USA state is valid all over the country ? How could I get informations on the organization of the UK or USA colleges ? Is it possible to take the exams that I have done here as valid on an UK or USA college ? What's the difference from our degree ( Italy degree ) and one of UK or USA . I would like to know to which UK or USA degree is equivalent our first degree level . I understand , these are hard questions to answer ... but , please , at least give me some references where I may read something about UK or USA colleges . Thanks a lot . May I strongly reccomend my engineering school: Cooper Union School of Engineering. It's located in downtown Manhattan, New York. An EXCCELLENT engineering school, it happens to be FREE and PRIVATE (actually there is a $300 annual student fee, which mostly pays for student parties). The explanation for this miracle is that the founder, Peter Cooper, made a PILE of money 150 years ago, and invested it for the purpose of supporting the school on the annual returns. There are 4 possible majors: Electrical (my favorite), Chemical, Civil, and Mechanical. It takes 4 years to get a Bachelor of Engineering, and one more year for a Master of Engineering. The school is HIGHLY respected here in the United States. As I recall, their phone number is 1-(212)-254-6300. Adios! Aaron Michael Chesir AT&T Bell Labs 1-(201)-949-1530 ..!att!twitch!aaron

Cooper Union is one of the best kept secrets in Engineering education. I believe that NYU students take engineering courses there as well since the NYU engineering school mergered with Brooklyn Poly to form NY Poly. Isn't Cooper Union enrollment by "invitation" only?
