I just finished a book by K. Eric Drexler called
_Engines of Creation_. In the book, Eric mentions
a program developed by Douglas Lenat at Stanford University
called EURISKO. The descriptions of EURISKO sounded
fascinating.
I was wondering if anyone out there in netland could
tell me more about EURISKO and where I could get some
information about the program. Is there a book!!??
ANY information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.... Jon

[Most popular books on AI will have an account of it. Johnson's
"Machinery of the Mind" for example has a chapter on AM and Eurisko.
(NY Times Books, 1986).

See Lenat's "Why AM and Eurisko Appear to Work" in Bernado Huberman's "Computational Ecology". John Nagle [Huberman, Bernardo, ed: "The Ecology of Computation" Elsevier North-Holland: Amsterdam, 1988 Besides the above, contains three articles by Mark Miller and Eric Drexler. Highly reccommended. (Also highly expensive.) --JoSH]
