A few items of interest here have shown up recently in Science News:
Feb 3, p.69: Making Molecules that Copy Themselves
cites Jan 31 J. Am. Chem. Soc. Julius Rebek et al
(this is about a chemical system which takes two reagents,
holds them in place with hydrogen bonds, forms an amide bond,
which moves one of them out of the way and allows another
reaction to take place. Unfortunately the second one
generally doesn't move away... but it's a good first step.)
