[sci.nanotech] Non-technical periodical citations

71750.2413@compuserve.com (Russell E. Whitaker) (12/07/90)

I found the following - by no means exhaustive - collection of
periodical citations in my local library a few days ago. I'm passing
them on to this newsgroup, though the articles are obviously NOT of
a very technical nature.

Note, however, that the Science News citation below is of an article
written by the same I. Amato who wrote the recent "Trekking in the
Molecular Forest" in the same weekly (the one whose text I have sent
today as a separate piece.

The science of nanotechnology and its possible uses are discussed.
Nanotechnology may be a future alternative to surgery. Programmed
robots could be used to enter the bloodstream, diagnose and repair a
problem.

Eric Drexler, innovator of the concept of nanotechnology or
molecular manufacturing, envisions a day when submicroscopic
robots will manipulate carbon atoms as easily as a child's building
blocks, allowing materials of all shapes and sizes to be fabricated
out of diamond.
