A news article in Nature (351:90; 9 May 1991) reports that the Japanese are planning a major reorg of some of their research institutes in Tskuba, including launching a new research center focusing on nanotechnology and `holistic science', and incorporating an `atom factory' as one of its projects. This is intended to link-up with MITI next-generation projects in quantum dot and quantum well devices, and other areas of `angstrom technology.' Jeremy Wertheimer MIT AI Lab, 545 Tech.
