[soc.culture.esperanto] Esperanto as interlingual form in natural language processing

vdasigi@silver.wright.edu (Venu Dasigi) (03/22/89)

I tried posting this to comp.ai.nlang-know-rep, but it didn't make it to
my site. Please pardon this cross-posting, which is not quite irrelevant to
the newsgroups to which this is being posted. Feel free to mail me your
reponse, and I will summarize if there is enough interest. (My address:
vdasigi@cs.wright.edu on CSNET)

Quite some time ago (2 years?), there were several postings on the use of
Esperanto in the Distributed Language Translation project of BSO/Research
in Utrecht, the Netherlands. (I saw the posting in an the Esperanto news-
group, hence the cross posting.) I believe Esperanto, or rather, a modified
version of it (called IL - Intermediate Language or InterLingvo) was used
as the interlingua in that project. I would like to find out more about
the status of that project, and to get hold of any reports published in that
connection. I do have an Esperanto version of some of the details, but my
Esperanto, unfortunately, is not good enough to understand the material
without spending an inordinate amount of time.

I appreciate any help.
