I am pursuing a thesis on cell tracking here at McGill, working on a image analysis system which will (possibly) use a knowledge-based approach to incorporate some monitoring control of the visual tasks performed by this system. From a practical point of view, I have started recently looking for different facilities in building-up the knowledge-based level of the system. One aspect I am considering is to use RULE GENERATORS to rapidly test different control procedures. I have found one company here in Montreal who provides such a facility. Is there anyone out there who knows of other such products available? Would there exist any public domain version? I am willing to post a list of such products on the net if there are enough replies (or interest). Here is a short summary of that first RULE GENERATOR I am awared of: Name of the product: SOPHOS Description: Permits the user to rapidly structure knowledge into an inference tree. Rules are then automatically generated. Compatibility: Produces rules for LEVEL5. Runs on IBM PC/XT, AT, PS or compatibles. Price: $1.5K Particularities: English and French versions. Company: Cognisys Address: 1755 East, Rene Levesque Blvd., Montreal, PQ, Canada, H2K 4P6 Apparently this company is in the process of writing versions for other software systems than LEVEL5. Requests in the above form would be most appreciated. Thanks! Frederic Leymarie ------------------- Office: McGill U., E.E.
