There are a number of window-based tools available now on the market that have mechanisms for handling rules, objects, graphics and interaction with external data bases and other programming languages (eg Level5, Nexpert Object, Kappa, KBMS etc). I would be interested to know, if someone has carried out a general study into such tools, comparing them from different perspectives. What parameters are interesting to look into when comparing one tool with another? Are some tools more suitable to particular tasks than others? Pointers to reports or comments on the matter would be welcome. Please mail to the below address. If the response is of general interest, I will summarize it in this group.
