CLIPS is clearly a well-done package and is no doubt useful for many applications where one would want to use a rule-based approach. But in my application the choice of representing all numbers as floating point values is not optimal. In my application I need to be able to manipulate numbers as 32 bit unsigned quantities and also need to be able to test and set bits individually. I would be interested in hearing from others who have used the CLIPS system and how they were affected by this design decision. I wonder if there is an "integer only" version of CLIPS. I should also point out that I am not trying to denigrate CLIPS -- it's just that I need to find a way to work around the floating point issue. -- John Sambrook DNS: john@amc.com Applied Microsystems Corporation UUCP: amc-gw!john Redmond, Washington 98073 Dial: (206) 882-2000 ext. 630
