[comp.ai.shells] natural language shells

rpl@dsg.npl.co.uk (Richard Lampard) (02/18/91)

I've mailed you since I can't mail directly to comp.ai.shells and I THINK
you're the moderator for this bb. If not, sorry for wasting you're time,
if you are perhaps you could post this on the bb.

I'm trying to implement a system with a number of AI components, one
of which would be a natural language interface. Unfortunately, I don't feel
competent to write such an interface myself (within the next 10 years
anyway) so was wondering if their were any commercially available shells to
do the job.

I'd like natural language input to be parsed, followed by some semantic
processing (e.g. identification of agents, objects, co-agents etc.). Could
anyone supply me with the name or address of anybody who sells such a system.
I've heard the name Chat-80 mentioned, but not much else.

I'm interested in anything that will run on Suns or PCs.
