[comp.ai.shells] KnowledgeWorks for Avignon

helen@jung.harlqn.co.uk (Helen Goddard) (05/18/91)

At the Avignon 91 Expert Systems and their Applications Conference,
Harlequin will be announcing KnowledgeWorks - a complete development
environment for the rapid creation of object oriented knowledge based
software applications.

Full integration.

KnowledgeWorks rules have access to data in any CLOS object, C++
object or relational database through the LispWorks SQL and foreign
function interfaces. Such a degree of integration means that the
toolkit is ideal for embedding expert system components in larger
applications.

Graphical tools for rapid development.

A full graphical interface enables fast and simple creation of the
knowledge base. Facilities include a source control manager, Emacs
style editor with automatic macro completion, and browsers for rules,
classes and facts. Rule behaviour can be closely monitored using the
forward chaining inference tracer or the backward chaining proof
tracer.

High performance.

By compiling the rules into machine executable code and through
optimal use of CLOS, KnowledgeWorks produces a compact, highly
efficient delivery system for stand-alone or embedded products.

Harlequin will be demonstrating KnowledgeWorks for the first time at
the Avignon exhibition 29-31 May 91 - stand C 4,5 and 6.
