[comp.protocols.kerberos] Kerberos and Threads

donnh@smokey.SanDiego.NCR.COM (Donn Holtzman) (03/17/90)

As part of a SW package under development here we're controlling a
number of terminals through a single process. We'd like to use Kerberos
to handle end-user authentication and service requests. Has anybody
tried to use Kerberos in this kind of "threads" environment (note:
we're not using Mach)? If so, could you share how you got around
blocking problems and how you managed the multiple user id's.

We've considered forking a process to handle sign-ons, but doing this for
service request validation is too expensive. We've also considered
modifying the Kerberos code to eliminate the blocking. We're developing on NCR
Towers running SV.3. We're also in the process of installing Kerberos in
this environment.

Any ideas or comments would be appreciated. I'll summarize email responses.

Thanks in advance.
