I have a DATSUN STANZA and I noticed that my tires are wearing only on one side (inside). I have taken it to the shop for wheel alignment, but, the problem still persists. I have 43k miles on the car and the front McPhearson strut has a slight leak. Could this cause the tires to wear on one side? I have taken care of the problem temporarily by fliping the tires so that I can get more milage out of the tires. If you have any suggestions pl. send it by mail. Jay Sethuram houxk!kumar

Car is a 72 Renault 4 door sedan, with front wheel drive. Tires are Sears p155r13, with Aramid instead of steel. The problem is that the outside third of the tread is worn about twice as much as the inside third, while the middle third is hardly worn. The rear tires are Michelin, with well over 60,000 miles of even wear on them. The air pressure on the tires is 26 to 28 psi, per the driver manual. Any advice/info will be greatly appreciated. It sounds like the 72 Renault with the outside edge worn twice as much as the inside endge with the center being hardly worn has a camber problem and low trie ire pressure. This is assuming this wear is on oall four tires. If the fronts are the only ones with the inside and outside edges qworn differently then it may just be cornering wear there. However the tires seem to indicate low pressure all around. Low pressures were reccocommended commended in the past for a softer ride. Try taking the tire pressure up near maxuomimaximum (32lbs on older style ansd 36 on metrics....It says on the tire) nsand I think you'll find the wear better, the gas mileage better and the handling better. Rigder will be a bit harsher however. Keith Bauer White Tiger Racing
