[comp.sys.laptops] laptop ethernet ?

emv@math.lsa.umich.edu (Edward Vielmetti) (01/17/90)

I'm interested in alternatives for getting a laptop machine with an
ethernet interface, either for use as a home/office system or for
remote network debugging (TCP/IP). It doesn't need to be terribly
powerful (read: think cheap), but it does have to be able to support
packet drivers.

My sketchy understanding is as follows. Toshiba has a machine
which can be fitted with an internal Western Digital-alike card,
don't know the part number or availability. Xicom (spell?) has
a Pocket Ethernet thingie that plugs into the parallel port,
but there are no packet drivers for it as of yet (or they are
still in early test phase). And of course there are all of the
lightweight, inexpensive laptops which have regular full ?
half ? slots in them.

thanks for any info.
