I beg to differ...QuickDraw for the Mac does very well with graphics,
and very speedily too.

Quite right. I was speaking within the context of the IBM- compatible
world. Extending the BIOS is possible, of course, but the point is that
standard software doesn't know or care you have done so. On the Mac,
the ROM routines are quite effective and have been at least moderately
adhered to from the beginning, certainly. I think the intended
context was fairly clear though. Among other things, Quickdraw offers
more than just BIOSSETPIXEL! But since there is a Mac laptop now (in
addition to several retrofits), I guess I should have been more spe-
cific.

Almost a moot point though, since the only Macs on the market- at least,
the only Mac ROMs on the market- are still Apple's.
