Hi! Before I go off and shell out 300 bucks on the new HP toy, I'd like to ask net.land a few questions: * Does it have hp-16 like functions? (multi-base arithmetic, binary and/or/xor/not, shifts and rotates, variable word size etc.) The 28 had a decent subset of those, but I noone mentioned them in the various reviews that have been posted here. * Is the serial interface useable without the $60 serial communications pack? How much documentation is there in the manuals about it? * Is the beeper loud enough to double as an alarm clock? Is its frequency programmable? Also, can it play two frequencies at once (for using it as a DTMF dialer)? * Is the thing sturdy? How much abuse can it take? I don't expect it to be anything like the early models (I once dropped my HP67 from four feet and nothing happened to it), but I don't want to have to watch my every move around it. * Finally, is there an easy way to intefrace the HP41 Wand to it? The Wand and the Card reader is all that remains from my old trusty hp41c after it was stolen last year from my locked desk where I was working in france. (BTW, if you want a card reader and/or a wand and/or loads and loads of cards, send me mail) I hope I can hold long enough to read the replies before I dash to 47th street photo and buy one! Thanks, /ji

You might want to make your inquiry on comp.sys.handhelds. There are several postings on the 48.
