I noticed the same annoying whine when I looked at a T1200HB in a store a while ago, and later asked about the whine when I talked to a Toshiba customer service person. He said that if a display whines, it is defective; the display should be silent. I have since seen T1200HB's that are indeed silent. Since you _recently_ purchased yours, call Toshiba and see if you get the same answer I got, and if so, you might want to have them fix it. Lyle D. Normal Background noise washes it out easily. #8*} Esteban.

The first 1200HB I bought (from a mail-order house) whined and I sent it back; the second one whined and I sent it back (along with an irate letter); the third one is *almost* totally quiet, and I'm satisfied with it. I know one other person who got a whiner, but he kept it.
