A friend of mine who knows relatively little about computers is contemplating purchase of a Toshiba T3100SX (I probably got the number wrong. It's a 386SX laptop). Anyway, he's a little concerned about all service needing to be done in California. He's been told that there are no authorized service centers outside CA, so he'd need to send it in for repairs (he lives in NYC.) Is it true that no one outside CA will service Toshiba stuff? If so, is there much disadvantage to buying it mail order or from 47th St. Photo, or something like that? Any and all input appreciated (please email).
