I second Weiser's comment and wish the press would get their shit together about this! If it needs a power cord to operate (not just charge the batteries) it is NOT A LAPTOP!!!!! It is at BEST a "totable" or "lugable" or "portable." Further, you rest 18 pounds on YOUR lap for a while and then decide whether it is a "laptop" even with batteries! Another random question - now that airplane audio units have minijacks for magnetic headphones, and first class in some planes actually has per-seat Sony Watchman TVs, anyone want to start a pool as to how long it will be before there is a 12vdc (13.8v - whatever!) jack in the "seat service unit" for at least business class and above??? Being able to tap onto the power bus in the plane would be a cosmic win in my book. (YES! I know planes usually have 28vdc power systems.) -Mike

I guess. I feel that "laptop" means, "it's size of your lap" by now,
since it's been abused so much. Kinda like the "It's a worm -- no!
it's a virus" bit ... who cares? For me, "laptop" means, "smaller than
a sparcstation, you can close it up and sling it over your shoulder,
etc." ...
