Radio Shack has once again put the WP-2 on sale for $300. I am thinking of getting one, but I have a few questions. The first models dropped characters when you transferred data using the serial port. Radio Shack said that they would fix it. Does anyone know if they have?? Does anyone have any alternatives I should look at for an inexpensive, small wordprocessor and database machine? Can you get third party programs that run on this machine? And, can I write my own programs? And finally, can anyone who owns a WP-2 tell me how they like it? Thanks! -David Spoelstra 317-576-7735 davids@truevision.com uunet!epicb!davids

Stan Wong on the M100SIG on CompuServe sells a 128K ram upgrade for Tandy's WP-2 for $79. You are still limited to around 30K per file, but you can access the internal 128K as a ram disc and carry lots of files with you. Like the model 100, the WP-2 suffers from sluggish screen updating is you are editing files of 15K or more. There is no way to program it short of assembler. And the communications bugs are there to stay. But at $300 it is one heck of a nice portable word processor. <STS> -- Scott Schad - via FidoNet node 8:391/12 UUCP: uafcveg!tprs!7104!9600!Scott.Schad INTERNET: Scott.Schad@f9600.n7104.z8.uafcveg.uark.edu
