A couple of individuals have had questions concerning Tandy Model 100 ftp sites so I feel its time to make my presense known. My name is Jeff Cortez and I am in charge of the effort to get Model 100 software in a anonymous ftp site at the University of Illinois. Following is a copy of a response I had to a individual's questions concerning ftp access for Model 100 software (It was meant as a response so it may seem a little out of context, but it does explain the current status of M100 ftp sites. Enjoy! :-)) Jeff Cortez jmc10392@uxa.cso.uiuc.edu /* Written 2:35 pm Sep 28, 1990 by jmc10392@uxa.cso.uiuc.edu in uxa.cso.uiuc.edu:comp.sys.tandy */ Well there are logical reasons for all the problems that you are having: Concerning ftp site 128.109.153.4 The reason you are having problems is that the login to use is PUBLIC and not anonymous. Also send NO password when asked. Once you have successfully connected you will find the software in the directories: pub1:[center.public.mod100.mod1001] pub1:[center.public.mod100.mod1002] pub1:[center.public.mod100.mod1003] pub1:[center.public.mod100.mod1004] pub1:[center.public.mod100.mod1005] pub1:[center.public.mod100.mod1006] pub1:[center.public.mod100.mod1007] pub1:[center.public.mod100.mod1008] Make sure you type the full path name when you try to change directories. I would suggest that you first telnet to this site and login in as PUBLIC. If you do this they have a front-end which is similiar to a BBS from which you can get help and a listing of the files. Concerning ftp site uxa.cso.uiuc.edu Well it looks like information about the University of Illnois site has been distributed premeturely by some of the individuals who I have informed of this site. For the record EVERYBODY please note: As of 9/28/90 the ftp site is not yet ready for use. I am currently working with the officials in the Computer Services Office on the creation of this site on ux1.cso.uiuc.edu. Currently the space is being freed on the machine and I am preparing software and software listings on a seperate machine. When the site is running I will post a listing of the files available and any other pertinant information. For those who have heard rumors about a site at uxa.cso.uiuc.edu there is NO site there. I have allowed a few individuals to ftp from my working directory and some of these individuals I believe mistook that for the ftp site. I am sorry for this confusion. Now that the information concerning this site's creation is out let me tell you a little about what it will be when it is ready. My name is Jeff Cortez and I have wrangled about 2 MEG of disk space on ux1 for storage of files on the Model 100. I currently have collected in the range of 640K of software. Anyone who is interested in summitting new software please email me at jmc10392@uxa.cso.uiuc.edu. I have enough room for tons of software so don't hesitate just because you do not think anyone else would loke to use it. If only one other person wants to use it, it will be worth the effort.
