A sporadic endeavor of mine has been to upgrade MS-DOS
Kermit for the GRiD Compass laptop computers.
The most recent verion is Kermit 3.02. In addition to
the latest features found in MS-DOS kermit, Tektronix
4010 emulation is now supported on the GRiD Compass.
Some changes were made to speed the program with a
resulting maximum speed of about 4800 baud in connect
mode. The program should run on all versions of the Compass.
Many thanks are due to Prof. Joe Doupnik of Utah State University
for his considerable contributions to MS-DOS Kermit. Without his
efforts this version of Kermit for the GRiD Compass (and a number of
earlier versions) would not be possible. I also thank Jim Noble,
the author of previous versions of GRiD Kermit, and whose
code forms an integral part of the latest version.
Kermit version 3.02 for the GRiD Compass should soon be available from
the Kermit files at Columbia University. In the meantime, I will be
happy to supply this program to the interested. Some ways in which
I can deliver the program:
(1) Email the uuencoded binary or the ascii boo file.
(2) Send me a formated MS-DOS 5 1/4" 360K disc and a stamped
return mailer.
(3) Send me $3.00 and your address. I will then furnish the disc and
mail it to you.
I will appreciate your comments. In particular, please let me know
of any problems you encounter so I can fix them.
John Nyenhuis
P.S. I also have MS-DOS Kermit 3.02 for the HP 150, HP 110, and
HP Portable Plus computers. Let me know if you need one of these
versions.
