Well, Toshiba bargain-hunters, the $1290. T1200XE is really a $2150. model if you try to order it from the famed Tri-State Computer. Basic 1200XE price remains $1950-upward (S & W Computers, NYC) unless you get one free, which also gives you the privilege of insufferability. However, at $1950, with anecdotes of but indifferent service from Toshiba, why not try the Bondwell B310 from DAK, which can now be had with a backlit screen (admittedly 640 X 200) and 40MB disk for $1450., which includes a lot of software too? If you really insist on an 8086 machine like the Tandy 1500HD, you could try the Panasonic (who make the Tandy machines anyway)CF170,, which is roughly equivalent to the 1500 but costs about $1400 in NY. There is also a Panasonic CF270 '286 machine, but that seems somewhat larger and heavier, albeit costing oly about $1600. Also the original Toshiba T1000XE upgraded to HDD + FDD and called a T1000LE, for about the same price as the Tandy. Jeff
