Epson equity LT laptops are flooding the market at about $500. They're v30 Dos machines, 2 3.5" drives, don't seem too heavy (7-8 lbs?), supertwist screen, 640k, serial and parallel ports, etc. Prices for Epson's upgrades (internal HD, Modems) are outrageous, but I don't need anything I can't run off the ports. I plan 90 percent of its use as a dumb terminal, word-processor, and for quick uploads/downloads with our nifty network here (when its up). Probably occasional quick and dirty c, c++, (smalltalk!! pant pant) hacking, too. Question, does anyone know if this is a decent machine, i.e, how delicate is it, how bad relative to toshiba T1000s, Tandys, Necs, and other similar types. I'm a grad student, if money were abundant, I'd be pursuing my true calling in life as a professional windsurfer. But since this is a reasonable facsimile of reality, I'm stuck watching the lakes freeze and a cheap computer is a must. Any comments, Pro, Con, Obnoxious would be appreciated. Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse, I'm new here. Thanks! Steve C Disclaimer: "my employer does not necessarily have any opinions"
