I am looking for a 286 that will suit my ski racing conference's needs.
My questions are simple: 1)Will cold weather effect machine performance?
2)I would like some decent battery life too.

There are some REAL exciting boxes hitting the market now for under $2K. TI/Sharp with a 4.4lb machine with paper-white VGA and 20MB hard disk. ZEOS with a slightly heavier box but same basic characteristics.
