wasn't aware the TI/Sharp 286 had dropped below $2K; I still see it advertised in NYC for around $2500. However, now that they have announced a similar 386 machine, perhaps the price will drop. The Toshiba 1200XE is available for around $2K, but with a non-VGA (albeit 640X400) screen is not competitive at that price with newly announced alternatives, e.g.., AST and ZEOS machines. The Panasonic CF250 (or 270) is around $1700; has anyone seen one? But it would appear the best value in this group is the Bondwell 310 from DAK, which is down to $1450 with a backlit screen and 40Mb hard disk, as well as a bunch of software (which is of course of little value if you don't need it). However, the screen on this one is only 640 X 200. I have seen the original 20Mb non-backlit version which appears reasonably robust although that screen is a bit off-putting.... Jeff
