I don't know why I haven't seen anything about it here but I just saw
the long awaited Toshiba 366SX notebook at a local computer show. I
appears to have the form factor in between that of the 1000[SX]E and
the 1200XE. Other specs are:
386SX - 16MHz
2M RAM
20/40M hard disk
1.44M floppy disl
NiH battery (3hour life) that runs the full width of the
system
side light VGA display
1 Toshiba D slot (I don't know what that means)
Besides all the standard Toshiba features it also has a sleep mode.
Price is said to be S$7000 (the current exchange rate is ~US$1 =
S$1.72). I suspect that this is an undiscounted price as they only
have 2 pcs in Singapore (supposedly arrived yesterday) and are not
going to get more till February.
As a point of interest, Everex showed a pre-production notebook that
looked very much like the Zeos (I've only seen the Zeos in photos)
that was supposed to be a 386SX. No details available and it will not
be available till February. Also seen was a very compact notebook
from Grasshopper. A 286 was on display but they too will be releasing
a 386SX in (you guessed it) February.
As a Wordperfect user I find it very strange that so many laptops
require you to turn on NumLock then hold a Fn key to get the
equivalent of a Grey+. Toshiba seems to be one of the few that lets
you get away with Fn+.
