[comp.sys.laptops] Toshiba Memory upgrades?

Hi,
       Does anyone have experience with memory upgrades on Toshiba
Laptops? I understand the added memory is "extended" memory. How does
this differ from "expanded" memory ?  How does one make extended memory
emulate (or be configured) as expanded memory?
       Does someone out there have experience in putting the memory in?
I don't want to send the laptop to Toshiba. Besides they charge horrendous
prices for memory upgrades.
       Any help/pointers will be sincerely appreciated
