Does anyone have an Epson Equity LT? 4.77/10 Mhz 8086, 640K, 20 MB hard drive, 1 floppy, EL backlit display, and a decent keyboard. A friend just bought one, for $999, and has a problem with the backlighting. The backlight is supposed to turn off after a timeout period (default 2 minutes) of no keyboard activity, and turn back on after any key is hit. However, her machine turns off the backlight after two minutes even if the keyboard is in use, and does not turn back on unless the machine is rebooted. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is it an error in the setup, or is the machine defective? (I'm leaning toward defective, and will recommend that she exchange the machine unless we can figure out what's wrong). I have an Epson Equity LT. It currently has two 3 1/2" floppy drives. In order to install a hard disk, one of the floppy drives must be removed. My question is this. Does anyone know if the controller for the hard disk is already in the machine (and you need only purchase the hard disk)? Also, do you have to buy the hard disk through Seiko/Epson, or are there other parties that produce compatible drives? If you know of other compatible drives, please let me know which ones.
