[comp.sys.laptops] Low-end laptop advice requested

rlm@sunlight.Physics.UIowa.Edu (Robert Mutel) (02/03/91)

I have been trying to decide about a low cost laptop. I am thinking about the following criteria:

	1. Cost less than $1K.
	2. Weight less than 8lbs.
	3. At least one 1.44MB 3.6 inchdrive.
	4. Bright, good quality display (CGA is OK).
	5. Auto-resume.
	6. Battery life at least 3 hrs.
	7. External CRT monitor port.
	8. DOS in ROM if possible.

This will be used primarily for word processing, so VGA and a hard disk are not essential. The only laptops I have found to be close are the Sharp MZ-100 and Panasonic (?) but neither have 1.44 MB drives. Is there anything out there that satisfies all (or nearly all) these criteria?

Thanks, Robert Mutel
