[comp.sys.laptops] The Zeos 386SX laptop

Well, the notebook arrived on friday at noon and I spent the weekend
transferring all my programs and files from the desktop to it over
the Brooklyn Bridge. The poor desktop (AT) was obviously trying hard
to keep up with the disk and CPU of the Notebook: After 45 seconds
of arduous labor on the desktop's disk, the Notebook did a
12 second burst of writing and the ball was again on the side of
the desktop. The Zeos is an extremely attractive machine. Black
is very sexy for a computer! The screen is the equal or better
than the paperwhite monitor of the desktop. Keyboard is silent while
giving good tactile feedback. Only thing I don't like is: The
power supply is big: ca. 6"x4"x4" and the low-voltage cord going
from it into the computer is very short, so you have to keep the
power supply on the desk. Kind of destroys the image when you're
working with it attached. At first I thought I'd lament the absence
of the Auto-Resume feature of the Toshibas, where you can turn off
the computer in the middle of an application. It turns out not to
be too bad, since the Zeos takes less than 5 secs. to boot up.
All my old programs are behaving well, since the Zeos will emulate
VGA,EGA,CGA and Hercules. Only problem so far: I run WP 5.1 and need
the underline and bold attributes. So I type: mode mono and enter
Word perfect. Word perfect thinks I have monochrome VGA. However,
the underlines/bolds do not appear on the screen as I type them
until I've previewed the document for the first time. Apparently,
when WP asks the Zeos for a graphics display it snaps into some
mode which gets restored to a different (better) text mode upon
return to the editing of the document. Any suggestions?
