[comp.sys.laptops] Panasonic CF150B

daniel@vicorp.com (Daniel Dee) (02/19/91)

I would like to find out more about Panasonic CF150B.
It look very similar to Tandy 1100FD. Are they the same?
The CF150B lists several hundred dollars more than
the Tandy but are sold by mail order houses at around
$600. Has anybody had any experience purchasing
laptop via mail order? What would be a good (and reliable)
mail order house to shop.

Thanks for any info.

They are not quite the same. The 1100FD does not have a backlit
screen and cannot be expanded with an additional meg of RAM. I think
it must be more like a CF150A or something. Both have DOS 3.3 in ROM,
but the Tandy also has the Deskmate interface and Deskmate's word
processor and spellchecker in ROM -- not great software, but handy if
you're stuck without and editor. I like my 1100FD a lot. No
backlighting means 3 hours or more on battery between recharges. The
Panasonic sounds good, too, I almost wish I'd known about it before I
bought the Tandy!
