I just received the new DataWorld NB320sx, and so far it looks nice. I have not tried any real dos software, but I have looked over the features and read all the manuals. It is 20 MHz, 386sx, VGA, 20Mb HD, 3 1/2 floppy, etc... etc... etc... The ad says 6.5 lbs with battery, but my scales say almost exactly 7 lbs. The power adapter is small and light. The screen is fairly nice, but there are some areas near the edges that are a bit lighter than the rest. It has suspend mode. It has 4 SIMM sockets, so will take up to 16 Mb of RAM. Mine came with 4M. It will take a 387 coprocessor, and an internal modem. DataWorld claims that when the larger Conner drives becomne available, the 20 Mb HD can be replaced with no problem. Here is the question... on the back are one parallel port and 2 serial ports (COM1 and COM2). If the internal modem is installed, the manual says that COM2 will be inoperable. The modem occupies a different area of the box from the COM2 port. SO, is this a DOS weirdness, or are there other notebooks out there that have two working serial ports when the internal modem is installed? Dave Stotts Univ. of Maryland
