The Doug Nash replacement did the trick for a former vehicle of mine, a '78 T/A w/400 CI engine. The only problems that I ever encountered were: * hard to get out of reverse gear, unless under torque * snap rings used for holding syncro's on are brittle I tested the hardness of some of the gears and found parts to be as high as 75 on the 'B' scale of the Rockwell hardness tester. My final drive ratio for 5th gear was .89, providing both excellent gas mileage and a great top end. Don't forget the supreme weight advantage over the 'Rock crushers'..... If you are using this trans for any sanctioned racing make sure to find a tight fitting wrap for it, the stock models tend to slide. ihnp4!ihuxa!johnw
