[comp.sys.laptops] A question about LCD screens

l1ngo@cudnvr.denver.colorado.edu (03/09/91)

I have a quick question maybe someone could answer for me in email.
I am using my T1000 as a dumb terminal (which is connected to my 286
running Minix) and was wondering if it was safe to leave the computer on
for extended periods of time without harming the LCD screen. I assume LCD
technology is quite different than phosphor displays, so it would seem
safe to leave the same image on the LCD without harming it...

Thanks for any info,
Linh

Linh: Apparently with Tandy's, the screen goes after a while. The manual
says to return it in this case (so, it is a confirmed failure!) I guess
it takes several years for that to happen. If I were you, I'd get a
composite small tv screen, connect it to the RGB output. (Yes, it is
possible to connect composite monitor to rgb!) I assume it's possible
to turn off the internal screen with yours? Regards, -turgut
