[comp.sys.laptops] Zeos 286 - first impressions

I received my Zeos 286 laptop a couple of days ago. This is my first purchase of a portable after many years using VAXes, SUNs, and assorted PCs. I like the machine but have a few negative first impressions. Since the company offers a 30 day no questions return policy, I thought I would solicit net wisdom on these problems in case I want to return it for something else.

1. The keyboard feel isn't very pleasant -not especially tactile, too stiff. It's better than some I have tried in computer stores (especially the 2mm travel keyboards which I really dislike). Are there any really good touch-typist keyboards on lightweight laptops?

2. The screen is OK but not great. There is an uneven background brightness horizontally with the right side being brighter. Graphics is pretty difficult to see even with 32 shades of grey (or so Zeos claims - I don't see that many).

3. The 20 MB disk (or fan?) has a low but high-pitched whine which is annoying in a quiet room.

4. The brightness and contrast controls are very easy to accidentally touch.

I don't want to leave the impression that the machine is junk, but a good keyboard and screen are important for heavy use. I wonder if anyone out there has experience with the Zeos and can compare it with other laptops of similar sepcs and price?
