I just bought a used 1400 LT and am having all kinds of problems with it. Most of them are probably due to my own ignorance. I would greatly appreciate any help at all. The machine is configured to use an external keyboard. I have used the set-up menu (ctl-shift-alt-ins) but the machine appears to be configured correctly (internal keyboard is highlighted). When I press escape, the machine reverts to its internal keyboard state and everything is fine until I reboot. Then it uses the external port again. A clue to this problem may be that none of my configurations is sticking. For example, If I change the processor speed on the menu, exit, and run a speed test, there is no apparent change. If this is a hardware problem, would it be possible to do something with the software to constantly reset the configuration at every boot? (I'm thinking along the lines of a modification to config.sys or writing some program to be placed in autoexec.bat) Another possible explanation may be DOS. Does the 1400 require a special form of DOS? I've run both MS DOS 3.3 and 3.2 with no apparent diference. Thank you for reading this message. Once again, I would greatly appreciate a reply to this problem along with any other advice that you may have. MAD -- People are basically good -- until given the opportunity to do evil.
