Net folks, I would like to transfer files between a laptop running SCO Xenix 2.3.2 and another machine with the same OS. This second machine is in a fixed location, but the laptop might be anywhere in the world (literally). The hdb uucp might be an acceptable method for file transfer, but perhaps an x/y/z-modem protocol transfer (using ecu/rzsz) might be better. The real problem lies in establishing the connection. Since calling internationally is sometimes a less than perfect process, ideally, I would like to establish a voice connection, and then move to a data connection. Dialers supplied with SCO Xenix are not appropriate for this application. Pointers from someone experienced with the problems associated with placing international data calls from hotel rooms and pay phones would be most appreciated. BTW, the modems are Touchbase Systems' Worldport 2400 (99.44% Hayes compatible :-) and Telebit TB+ respectively. Jeff -- Jeffrey E.
