There has been some discussion on line-powered modem and some have reported problems with it. I am thinking of getting rid of my old clumsy modem and buying one line-powered modem. However, after turning a few copies of "PC Laptops"/"Portable Office" etc I did not find any ad on this type of modem (is the brand "DenMark"?). Can anyone give some pointer? Or the users of line-powered modem give us some info of actual usage? Xiao <xiaoy@ecf.toronto.edu>

The modem is labelled "Com-Call 1200 TM-1200" and is made in Singapore. It has a DB25 connector on one end and an RJ11C jack on the other. Its dimensions are about 3 x 2 x 0.75 inches. It has a supposedly Hayes compatible command set. All the comm programs I use are configurable for different modems, and I have been able to use them with this modem with no problems. I have carried it around in the outside pocket of my laptop computer case for several months, and it seems to have survived well. I have no connection with either Damark or the company which makes this modem (whoever that is). Damark International Inc. 7101 Winnetka Ave. N.
