A friend has to replace the 3.5" disk drive on her T1000. It would seem that, in addition to sending it back to Toshiba, there is also the option of pulling out the old drive, fitting whatever hardware (I mean mounting brackets, faceplate, etc.) is specific to the T1000 onto an OEM 3.5" drive, and putting in the OEM drive. I assume this ould save money because 3.5" drives are avilable for only several tens of de dollars. Has anyone done this, or does anyone have suggestions? Jeff

This is a parts dealer that a local Toshiba dealer told me about. If that doesn't work out there are people selling off their old T1000s they bought a few years ago for as little as $300. Perhaps someone has a machine with a dead batter/cracked LCD and a good drive they'll sell cheap. I'll get much less when I finally sell of my own T1000. The Toshiba Laptop BBS 714-837-4408 may be helpful. By the way, what happened to the floppy drive? -- <-:(= Anthony Stieber anthony@csd4.csd.uwm.edu uwm!uwmcsd4!anthony Psion Mailing List subscriber submissions psion ----------\ the (human) moderator psion-owner -------+--@csd4.csd.uwm.edu subscriptions and file requests psion-request ----/
